Ashley Furniture has opened a new distribution center in Spanaway, Washington, the company announced last week.
The distribution center, which will grow to 1.1 million square feet after an addition, adds to the furniture retailer’s existing eight distribution centers. It will also work with Ashley’s brokerage and retail businesses.
The facility is Ashley’s first distribution center in the Pacific Northwest, expanding the furniture retailer’s distribution coverage beyond its footprint in California, Arizona, Ohio, Mississippi, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Texas and North Carolina.
“This new facility is a significant step to expand our warehouse capacity to support brick-and-mortar retail operations, as well as our e-commerce growth,” President and CEO Todd Wanek said.
Ashley joins other furniture retailers in expanding its distribution center network in an effort to boost fulfillment capacity. Last December, Big Lots announced plans to open two new distribution centers in 2022, part of an effort to support its big and bulky items.
