Boeing has named longtime company veteran Stephanie Pope as its new COO and EVP, effective Jan. 1, the company announced Monday.
In the new role, Pope will oversee Boeing’s supply chain, manufacturing, quality and engineering efforts. She will report to President and CEO Dave Calhoun.
Pope has served various positions at Boeing over nearly three decades. Since April 2022, she has led Boeing Global Services as its president and CEO, focusing on global supply chain and parts distribution alongside digital solutions and analytics. Prior to the global services role, Pope was CFO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes.
"Next year will be a significant transitional year in our performance as we continue to restore our operational and financial strength; and Stephanie will help drive the stability and predictability necessary to ensure we deliver on our customer, employee, regulatory, investor and other stakeholder commitments,” Calhoun said in a statement.
Pope steps into the COO role as Boeing continues to deal with numerous supply chain and production challenges . The aerospace company is still struggling to claw its way back to normal 737 production levels after reporting delivery shortfalls in Q3.
Boeing has put several plans in place to address the issues, including sending cash and manufacturing resources to supplier Spirit AeroSystems. However, production continues to be slow, pushing up costs.
The two companies have been working together to try and resolve the issues and recover production levels to meet Boeing’s delivery goals and stabilize its supply chain. In fact, Spirit recently tapped former Boeing executive Pat Shanahan to serve as interim CEO to help get its operations back on track.
