Colgate-Palmolive Company implemented Aera Technology’s Decision Cloud platform to optimize stock deployment across its fulfillment network of Hill’s Pet Nutrition plants, mixing and distribution centers, according to the technology company’s June 6 release.
Aera’s software is currently live at three of Hill’s Science Diet and Hill’s Prescription Diet plants, according to the release.
“We are enabling the Colgate-Palmolive team to leverage the capabilities of our platform to build and deploy a Dynamic Stock Deployment Skill to improve and speed decisions for product allocation,” Ram Krishnan, global head of customer success at Aera Technology, told Supply Chain Dive in an email.
Aera’s Skill solution considers changing internal and external factors, such as forecasted demand and safety stock, to make informed, real-time recommendations across the company’s fulfillment centers, he added.
It is unclear when the technology was implemented at the plants or when the solution will be expanded to other locations, and Aera declined to share any additional details. However, Colgate-Palmolive expects to eventually expand the use of Decision Intelligence across the company, Bawana Radhakrishnan, worldwide director, global supply chain digital transformation, said in the release.
Companies have been expressing interest in various technology solutions designed to drive greater efficiency and insight across operations. Earlier this year, Google Cloud introduced updated insights for inventory management, including spotting trends, slow moving or aging stock.
Retailer Serta Simmons Bedding also implemented a software solution earlier this year to help planners track changing business conditions, make network adjustments and improve forecast accuracy.
