Dive Insight:
The supply chain is a large and complex discipline, and a recurring theme from conversations with executives who began their careers in the 80's was just how lucky younger generations were to be able to study the "supply chain" and specialize within it.
However, every education program needs its role models and innovators, and together these three pioneers represent three of the integral parts of the supply chain: assembly, packaging and transportation. Henry Ford popularized the internal production chain; J.B. Hunt led 3PL's by example in integrating various modes of production; and McLean facilitated the pieces through an innovation in packaging.
The Hall of Fame will be updated each year, recognizing major disruptions and providing permanent case studies for the consistent rate of change within the supply chain.
