DHL eCommerce Solutions relocated its facility in Orlando, Florida, to a new 129,000-square-foot site, doubling its footprint in the city, DHL said in a June 22 press release.
The $15.4 million investment is equipped with automation features such as two last-generation line sorters machines, a DHL spokesperson told Supply Chain Dive in an email. The facility will also feature two sliding shoe sorters from automated mail sorter company NPI which can process over 28,000 domestic and international parcels and packages per hour.
The investment also includes a seven-year lease, office upgrades and more.
In Orlando, DHL eCommerce Solutions handles shipping of parcels five pounds or less, and packages from a variety of B2B online retailers. DHL also offers Expedited Max, Expedited and Ground shipping services.
"We have operated in the Orlando area for more than a decade, and with this increased space, we can help our long-time and new customers grow while we manage significantly more e-commerce domestic and international volume,” Lee Spratt, CEO of DHL eCommerce Solutions, Americas said in a statement.
DHL has been making strategic investments to meet increasing e-commerce demand. Earlier this month, the integrator also moved its St. Louis e-commerce facility to Kansas City, Missouri.
