DHL Supply Chain is permanently closing a general warehouse and storage facility in Clayton, Indiana, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act notice filed in April.
The closure is due to an unnamed facility customer transitioning to a new provider, which will impact 170 employees effective Aug. 1, per the notice, which did not specify the types of positions being eliminated.
“DHL Supply Chain was recently informed of a decision taken by one of our customers to restructure their operations which includes transitioning their business to a new provider,” the company told Supply Chain Dive in an email. “We notified our associates of this change in April and we will work with them to determine opportunities to continue their career as valued team members of DHL Supply Chain.”
The company shuttered an Ohio facility in December 2023, laying off 264 employees in the process. The closure was also due to a customer discontinuing operations at the warehouse. A similar reason prompted nearly 400 layoffs at two DHL Supply Chain facilities in California in late 2022.
