Goodyear named Don Metzelaar SVP of global manufacturing and supply chain, according to a Jan. 9 press release. Metzelaar started his new role on Monday.
Metzelaar will oversee the tire manufacturer’s global operations group, per the release. Metzelaar will be responsible for the company’s global and regional manufacturing and supply chain functions, as well as environment, health and safety, business continuity, and manufacturing engineering and quality. He will also lead product lifecycle management.
"Manufacturing is at the core of our business, and the transformation of our manufacturing operations is central to our go-forward strategy," Goodyear President and CEO Mark Stewart said in the release.
Previously, Chris Helsel led the company’s combined global operations and technology division, a Goodyear spokesperson told Supply Chain Dive in an email. However, the company has decoupled the units, with Helsel focusing on the separate technology team, the spokesperson said.
Prior to his role at Goodyear, Metzelaar was chief manufacturing officer and global VP for Johnson Controls International. With more than 30 years of experience in the manufacturing space, Metzelaar has also held operations leadership positions at Whirlpool, Honeywell and Motorola.
