Hallmark opened a second distribution center in Liberty, Missouri, in a bid to optimize and centralize its distribution network, according to a June 28 press release.
The 850,000-square-foot facility, called Liberty II, is located less than a mile away from its existing distribution center and will serve as the distribution hub for Hallmark Ornaments, Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments, Christmas boxed cards and gift wrap, according to the release.
"The efficiencies this unlocks will enable Hallmark to better, and more quickly, serve our customers and consumers, as well as create more capacity for growth and innovation in the future," President Smith Holland said in a statement.
The facility, which Hallmark broke ground on in October 2021, aims to reduce transportation needs and use around 1 million fewer cardboard boxes annually.
“In addition, we can combine shipments that we couldn’t have with a more segmented distribution network," Lora Rhodus, vice president of logistics, said in a statement. "We’ll be shipping less cartons; using less transportation; lowering our emissions."
