Jacksonville Port Authority fell 2% YoY to 115,101 TEUs in August, which the port describes as a steady month.
"Our business normally fluctuates plus or minus 5 percent from calendar year to calendar year, so 2 percent falls within that normal range," a spokesperson told Supply Chain Dive, noting such annual fluctuations are "due to the diversity of our trade lanes."
Despite lower volumes YoY, Jaxport's August volumes were up from the previous month, when the port handled 97,896 total TEUs. July was a softer month than usual, while August figures were more typical for the port, according to the spokesperson.
"It’s difficult to draw a trend from one particular month,” the spokesperson said. “However, July volumes were down across all trade lanes, a possible indication that global demand is softer than usual."
