Dive Brief:
- Logistics technology innovator Kuebix is now offering Kuebix Shipper, a free, multi-modal transportation management system (TMS). Kuebix Shipper provides logistics managers an unlimited rating, booking, tracking and management of shipments platform across less than load (LTL), truckload and parcel carriers, according to a press release.
- Kuebix's free TMS speeds the logistics management process by providing direct access to negotiated carrier rates and the variety of shippers offering spot/volume quotes for specific shipping preferences. The cloud-based platform shares freight intelligence details to provide savings in cost and time.
- By empowering shippers, the Kuebix TMS offers businesses an alternative to 3PLs or internal efforts. The company expects a very strong response to its free offering, resulting in a large global community of shippers and carriers across supply chains.
Dive Insight:
The popularity of TMS platforms is growing, but are they accessible to the most basic user?
A recent research report predicts that the TMS growth rate could reach $30.04 billion by 2025, though much of that growth depends on expansion rather than new implementation. However, the most recent trend in TMS adoption tends toward vendors seeking small and midsize organizations, many of which wind up with more complex systems than are needed for the scale of business undertaken.
Kuebix seeks to democratize the process. In addition to remaining free for life, "Kuebix TMS is a modular platform that scales to perfectly meet the needs of simple to the most complex supply chain requirements," Becky Boyd, a company spokesperson told Supply Chain Dive. Users can always scale up, as well. "If users want more advanced functionality, such as predictive analytics, advanced shipment management and efficient financial management, they can easily upgrade," Boyd continued, as the company also provides Premier Applications that include Yard Management, Collaboration Portals, Order and Route Optimizer plus other functions.
