Lamb Weston welcomed Sylvia Wilks as its chief supply chain officer earlier this month, the company announced on Aug. 5.
Wilks oversees the frozen food processor’s global supply chain organization, which includes manufacturing, procurement, engineering and continuous improvement.
She has more than 30 years of supply chain experience focused on consumer-packaged goods, food and beverage manufacturing, automotive and retail. Before joining Lamb Weston, Wilks was chief supply chain officer at outdoor retailer REI Co-Op. She also held previous roles with Kimberly-Clark and Starbucks.
Wilks is replacing Gerardo Scheufler, who had served in the role since August 2019. The company did not reply to a request for comment on why Scheufler was replaced.
The appointment of Wilks comes as the food processing company faces challenges in its supply chain.
Lamb Weston experienced “disappointing” results during its most recent fiscal quarter amid soft global demand for fries, CEO Tom Werner said during a July 24 earnings call.
“We're aggressively looking at opportunities to reduce costs further by driving supply chain productivity and tightly managing operating expenses,” Werner said.
The company also faced challenges during its ERP transition earlier this year. The transition impacted inventory management, the receiving and processing of orders, customer invoicing, and the warehousing, scheduling and transportation of shipments.
