FleetPride chief Mike Duffy has been named CEO of LaserShip/OnTrac effective immediately, the regional parcel carrier announced Tuesday.
Duffy, a current company board member, has more than two decades of leadership experience in distribution, retail and supply chain management, per a news release. It noted Duffy's experience with acquisitions, having overseen more than 25 of them at FleetPride since taking over in February 2021. He will continue working with FleetPride, a truck and trailer parts distributor, until his successor takes over.
“It is a privilege to continue to work with the talented team at LaserShip/OnTrac as we navigate this dynamic operating environment,” Duffy said. “I am excited to get to work in my new capacity as CEO to continue to expand LaserShip/OnTrac’s footprint to best serve our customers, retailers, suppliers and partners across the country with fast, reliable home delivery.”
Duffy's appointment comes amid a period of expansion for the carrier as alternatives to FedEx and UPS see increased interest among shippers. After LaserShip and OnTrac merged in 2021, the combined company deployed a transcontinental delivery service and opened a new sort center near Philadelphia last year. The company is also expanding into Texas.
The regional carrier is confident Duffy's leadership will help the company continue to grow, Will Manuel, chairman of the LaserShip/OnTrac board and managing director of American Securities, said in a statement.
"We’ve been impressed by Mike’s significant contributions since he joined the Board in May 2022 and his strong track record in numerous supply chain and distribution leadership roles over his career," said Manuel, who is also chairman of the board for FleetPride, according to American Securities’ website.
Duffy replaces Mark Holifield, who has stepped down from the carrier's board and the role of CEO. A former supply chain executive at The Home Depot, Holifield became CEO of LaserShip in November 2021, one month after the carrier announced it would merge with OnTrac. The release credited Holifield with leading the integration and setting the foundation for the company's expansion and launch of its transcontinental service.
“We are all incredibly grateful to Mark for his valuable contributions at an important inflection point for LaserShip/OnTrac,” Manuel said.
