Medical technology company Avanos Medical named Sigfrido Delgado SVP of integrated supply chain, according to a May 13 press release. In his new role, Delgado will help implement improvements within the company’s global end-to-end supply chain capabilities.
While Avanos did not specify who Delgado is replacing, Sudhakar Varshney, the company’s previous SVP of global supply chain and procurement, resigned from the company, effective March 31, according to a 2023 annual report.
Delgado has more than 20 years of manufacturing, supply and operations experience within the medical device industry, according to the press release. Prior to his current role, Delgado served as VP of the global medtech business at manufacturer Jabil Healthcare, per the release. He has also held various roles at Johnson & Johnson, Ethicon and Cordis.
"Executing on a robust sales, inventory and operations planning strategy is a key part of Avanos' transformation process," Joe Woody, CEO of Avanos, said in the release. "Sig's deep experience within the medical device industry will be critical to helping us achieve our goals.”
Avanos outlined a three-year transformation plan in January 2023 to optimize strategic and commercial operations, shift its product portfolio, add cost-management initiatives, and grow return on capital invested, according to a 2023 investor day presentation. Regarding the supply chain, the plan includes SKU rationalization, a reduction in indirect spend and other simplification efforts.
In a Q4 earnings call, Woody said the supply chain overhaul was paying off. He specifically highlighted that Avanos experienced a reduction in backlog in 2023, saying such results served “as tangible proof that our supply chain organization is executing effectively on its transformation initiatives.”
