The Peak Group of Companies hired James Beckett as SVP of supply chain and global procurement, effective March 3, according to a Jan. 13 press release.
Beckett will oversee the home renovation product manufacturer’s supply chain and procurement strategy, as well as global manufacturing and distribution.
Beckett most recently served as SVP and chief merchandising officer for several FGL Sports brands, including Sport Chek, Atmosphere and Sports Expert, according to his LinkedIn profile. In the role, he oversaw inventory management and merchandise planning for the company, which is a subsidiary of retailer Canadian Tire. He also had a five-month stint as interim president of FGL Sports from October 2023 to February 2024.
Before FGL, Beckett spent a year as VP of merchandising strategy, planning and allocation for Staples Canada, following a nearly 11-year run with the Home Depot Canada, where he last worked as senior director of merchandising strategy, planning and sourcing.
"I'm thrilled to return to the home improvement industry and for the opportunity to work with Jeff [Kinnaird] and the Peak leadership team to scale and grow the business," Beckett said in the release. "As Peak continues to grow, it is essential to have a supply chain network that supports that growth and enables us to manage industry challenges.”
Peak currently supplies 1,000 individual products across 21 categories to the Home Depot, where its goods are exclusively sold in North America. Its offerings include metal railing, fencing, decking, gutters, garden ware, door and window screening, and storage and organization products.
"With global supply chain management and product procurement being cornerstones of our business, we're excited to have a leader with James' skills and experience join Peak," said Kinnaird, who serves as president and CEO of the Peak Group of Companies.
