Cargo volumes at the Port of New York and New Jersey rose 3% year over year to 633,925 total TEUs in December.
The port handled 5.3 million loaded imports and loaded export TEUs throughout 2023, ending the year as the nation’s second-busiest port for moving loaded containers, according to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
December was also the first YoY increase in container volumes the port processed in 2023, despite being around 2% lower than the previous month.
