Puma named Indrajeet Sen as SVP for Puma Group Sourcing, the company’s segment that manages product development, production control and supplier selection for Puma and Cobra, according to a press release last month. Cobra, a maker of golf clubs and equipment, was acquired by Puma in 2010.
In his new role, Sen will oversee global sourcing and development of footwear, apparel and accessories, as well as operations and sustainability. He will based in Xiamen, China, and report directly to Puma Chief Product Officer Maria Valdes.
Sen will take over Chief Sourcing Officer Anne-Laure Descours’ operational responsibilities. Descours is set to depart the company at the end of 2024 after her contract ends, and instead will serve as an external advisor in the field of sustainability.
Sen has been with Puma since 2016 and most recently worked as VP of sourcing and development footwear. Before joining Puma, he was the global quality manager for German footwear retailer Deichmann.
“Indy has been instrumental to our success in Footwear,” Arne Freundt, CEO of Puma, said in the release. “He has excelled in various key roles such as adeptly managing the challenges of the COVID pandemic, diversifying our supply chain, and driving exceptional operational efficiency.”
The executive change in sourcing also comes as the Germany-based sportswear giant works to boost transparency in its leather supply chain.
Puma joined the Deforestation-Free Call to Action for Leather initiative back in July 2023, which aims to increase supply chain transparency across industries by identifying where raw material is sourced.
