Dive Brief:
- Tractor Supply has opened its 11th distribution center, a 865,000-square-foot facility in Nampa, Idaho, the retailer announced in a Sept. 23 news release.
- The facility, which began receiving inventory in August, will commence outbound shipping this month. The site will distribute products to 123 stores in nine states in its first year, but it can scale to serve more than 200 stores at full operational capacity, per the release.
- The site — a more than $200 million investment — features 80 truck docks and has additional acreage available for future expansion. The facility is expected to create 500 full-time jobs and have a dedicated AI innovation team, which will work "to apply practical artificial intelligence to operational needs," the release said.
Dive Insight:
The Nampa facility will set "a new standard for how products move through our supply chain," Craig Ledbetter, Tractor Supply's chief supply chain officer, said in the release. It's the first Tractor Supply location to include an automated storage and retrieval system from logistics automation technology provider Knapp.
"This automated architecture is fully integrated across the operations of the distribution center, including automatic conveying systems to store, sequence and move products safely and more efficiently," the release said.
Distribution centers play a key role in ensuring Tractor Supply's stores can serve customers. About 81% of merchandise received by the retailer's stores in fiscal year 2025 came from the company's distribution facility network, with the remainder shipped directly from vendors to stores or customers, per a securities filing. The locations of the distribution facilities aim to help "minimize logistics costs and optimize the distance from distribution facilities to our stores," the filing added.
The Nampa site gives Tractor Supply a distribution presence in the Northwest U.S., helping serve nearby stores. As of Dec. 27, 2025, Tractor Supply has 70 retail locations across Idaho, Oregon, Nevada and Washington, according to the filing.

"As more people look to embrace the 'Out Here Lifestyle' and we continue to open new stores, this distribution center will be vital to get our customers the products they want and need," Ledbetter said. The company opened 28 new Tractor Supply stores in the second quarter of 2026.
