Truffle company Sabatino is expanding its distribution center in West Haven, Connecticut, helping its overall warehouse capacity increase by 40%, according to a Dec. 5 press release.
The 125,000-square-foot warehouse will be operational Dec. 18, a spokesperson told Supply Chain Dive.
“The expansion enables us to better meet growing demand, enhance our service, and uphold our sustainability values. It's an important step in our U.S. growth, which also includes our first retail location at New York City's Grand Central Terminal,” said CEO Federico Balestra.
The West Haven distribution center will serve as a hub for production, packaging and shipping of Sabatino’s products, including oil, condiments, honey, spreads, instant meals and seasonings.
The facility also features several automated features to increase speed and efficiency.
“Real-time tracking will give us precise visibility into inventory, ensuring accurate and seamless operations. Advanced systems optimize how we move and store products, and soon, automated forklifts will further streamline goods movement,” the spokesperson said.
Besides West Haven, the Italy-based company currently also has a manufacturing facility in Montecastrilli, Italy, according to the company’s website.
