Walmart GoLocal is now available in IBM's order management system, providing shippers easier access to the retailer's white-label delivery service, according to a Jan. 13 news release.
The system, called IBM Sterling Order Management, helps retailers accurately track inventory levels, coordinate third-party logistics and organize customer orders and shipping options, among other capabilities. When an order is placed and ready to ship, users can select from Walmart GoLocal's mix of delivery options, including same-day and next-day shipping.
The collaboration aims to simplify the Walmart GoLocal implementation process for retail clients' business systems via a "user-friendly and highly customizable" integration, per the release.
“IBM customers can now tap into Walmart GoLocal’s extensive last-mile delivery network and robust suite of delivery capabilities, empowering them to enhance efficiency and grow their business," Rina Hurst, Walmart GoLocal VP, said in the release.
Meeting shippers on platforms they are using is one way Walmart GoLocal is growing its customer base. The delivery service became available on Salesforce Commerce Cloud in 2023, paving the way for retailers like Hibbett to access it more easily.
Walmart GoLocal has made more than 30 million deliveries since launching in 2021, a spokesperson told Supply Chain Dive in an email. The service has been diversifying its offerings beyond delivering lightweight shipments from stores to stand out among a crowded field of FedEx and UPS alternatives.
