- Walmart GoLocal is available on Salesforce Commerce Cloud, which Hibbett uses. “Ahead of the busy back-to-school season, expanding e-commerce and same-day delivery capabilities with Walmart GoLocal and Salesforce positions Hibbett to continue meeting customers’ expectations," GoLocal VP Rina Hurst said in the release.
Dive Insight:
Walmart GoLocal continues to diversify its client base and the types of products it handles, delivering millions of orders since its launch in 2021. The company works with retailers in more than 10 verticals, and the partnership with Hibbett marks its expansion into the “athletic-inspired fashion space,” according to the release.
Walmart GoLocal expanded access to its services to Salesforce Commerce Cloud last year, making it easier for retailers like Hibbett to leverage the delivery service. It also helps Walmart GoLocal stand out in a crowded field of FedEx and UPS alternatives.
“The combined power of Walmart GoLocal and Salesforce Commerce Cloud helps customers like Hibbett unlock a more seamless order fulfillment experience, deliver products to customers faster and drive efficiency in the last mile so that customers can get their products when and where they want them," Michael Affronti, Salesforce's SVP and general manager of Commerce Cloud, said in the release.
Hibbett also leverages FedEx and the U.S. Postal Service for standard shipping methods, along with DoorDash for delivery within two days, according to the fashion retailer’s website.
The partnership with Walmart GoLocal comes as Hibbett has made strides in trimming its supply chain costs. According to an earnings release, the retailer saw a reduction in freight, shipping and logistics costs as a percentage of net sales in its 2024 fiscal year.
"We continue to always look at ways to make the process more efficient, getting closer to the consumer in terms of delivery cost [and] obviously running things through our distribution center more quickly and more efficiently," Hibbett SVP and CFO Bob Volke said during an August earnings call.
