Former Shipt executive Rina Hurst has been named vice president of Walmart GoLocal, the retail giant's delivery service platform.
In her new role, Hurst will be responsible for Walmart GoLocal's strategic direction, operations and general management. She will focus on scaling its business and expanding its capabilities to meet retailers' fulfillment needs.
Hurst served as chief business officer for Shipt, the same-day delivery service owned by Target, since 2020, according to her LinkedIn profile. Walmart said in its announcement of the hire that Hurst played a key role in optimizing order volume, expanding Shipt’s delivery footprint and drawing hundreds of retailers to its marketplace and last-mile services.
“Rina brings extensive last-mile and delivery expertise and a track record of building strategic partnerships and accelerating growth,” Jennifer McKeehan, Walmart U.S. senior vice president of end-to-end delivery, said in a statement. “ ... Rina’s expertise in retail delivery will be a strong complement to the team as we continue to innovate and expand how we serve leading retailers with delivery.”
Walmart GoLocal launched in 2021. The white-label, local delivery service has grown quickly, with millions of deliveries made for various clients and delivery coverage offered across 18,000 U.S. ZIP codes. Hurst is joining the company as it pushes to diversify its services beyond small parcel delivery.
"The delivery space is constantly evolving, and I'm looking forward to working with the team to expand Walmart GoLocal’s capabilities and build new relationships with retailers looking for reliable and customizable local delivery solutions,” Hurst said in a statement.
