- Voice recognition and smart glasses increase capabilities that can reduce mistakes and decrease costs.
- Wearable technologies that are being used for supply chain operations include wrist gear, eyewear and around-the-neck appliances.
Dive Insight:
It is not a surprise that small, wearable technologies have made it into the warehouse. But while the technologies are being tested, the cost associated with the devices could create a barrier to implementing them.
Some of the brands being tested are brands such as Vuzix, Microsoft HoloLens, and Noonee for manufacturing and distribution, Adrian Gonzalez, president of Adelante SCM, told JOC.com. Just one advantage of the technology is the potential for improving speed and accuracy.
So far the market for utilizing these technologies is small -- for now. However, as the testing market gains traction, usage is expected to grow quickly.
